The Babbling BansheeA tale of Ryan and Bryan O'Brien, two Irishmen from County Cork, Ireland. Ryan O'Brien is a homeless storyteller, who weaves tales of leprechauns and faery folk, spiced with half-truths from his own life. By contrast, Bryan O'Brien is a bartender that seems to have life well in order and runs a successful pub. Bryan humors Ryan nightly with free alcohol from the bar as they battle in banter and wrestle in wits over a game of chess but what ties bind the mismatched pair together? Deep seeded scars unravel as Ryan and Bryan face the babbling banshee. |

27 Wagons Full of CottonTennessee Williams is one of the leading American dramatists of the 20th century. 27 Wagons Full of Cotton is Williams at his best. It focuses on the volatile relationship between Jake and Flora. Flora, a grown-woman who still acts like a 'baby doll', is married to Jake, a brute of a man who works ginning cotton. Jake treats Flora aggressively, inflicting pain that she both fears and likes. When a third character enters seeking revenge on Jake, he finds it waiting in the arms of Flora. Like the fire that goes off early in the first scene, the play begins with heat, aggression, and passion. |

Christmas in BakersfieldThis is crazy. Les meets Mike, the man of his dreams. When Mike takes Les home for the Christmas holidays, Mike realizes that he forgot to tell his Caucasian, ultra conservative parents that Les is African-American. OOPS! The show can be described as Brokeback Mountain meets Guess Who's Coming to Dinner. |

ImproscapingIMPROSCAPING is a sexy, funny and original extravaganza performed by Susanne Carter. Obsession with weight, bad hair days, and fear of bikinis, tracks Susanne's body image though time. At odds with herself, Susanne creates six dance improvisations from the hilarious to the sublime. Unusual props and costumes underscore recorded interviews with Susanne's chiropractor, hair dresser, photographer and more. Ridiculous antics and a strong physicality highlight this edgy and whimsical 60 minute production. |

This nonspecific representation of neighborhood turmoil and neighbor-to-neighbor peacemaking criss-crosses all geopolitical boundaries and persuasions, while addressing basic human fears and the universal human desire for peace. |

Phil the Void: Comedy over QualityStand-up at its inspired best, comedy that refuses to give in to the twisted times we live in. At last, a comedian who actually assumes the audience is intelligent enough to get that God is a sense of humor. Makes you feel a little less lonely as you laugh yourself off your seat. Van Hest is hilarious, subversive and very, very smart. In other words, he hits it out of the park. If you've begun to fear most stand-up seems like it's been punched out of some permanently post-adolescent purgatory, this is the show you've been needing. Don't miss it." NUVO, 2007 |
